Casa Central Community Technology Center
Casa Central Community Technology Center services improve Technology Literacy in our community. The Community Technology Center increases access to computers and internet to low income communities that typically would not otherwise have opportunities to use computer technologies.
Through this program, computer education and access is provided to children and youth from Casa Central's Youth Options Unlimited and School Age programs and community members.
A Computer Trainer teaches children and youth basic computer skills that assist them in fulfilling academic requirements and preparing them for future competition in the work place. The Trainer follows curricula developed specifically for our after-school participants, introducing thems to Windows applications and engaging them in projects that encourage computer mastery through practice of the various applications. Additionally, the Computer Trainer offers ongoing individualized assistance with homework, special school projects, on-line college search activities, and vocational preparation.
Community residents and Casa Central employees may also access the Center and receive basic computer skills training from a Computer Trainer. Adult participants can use the Center to prepare resumes, search for jobs online, learn how to set up a free e-mail account, and much more.
The beginning
Casa Central was founded in 1954 by a multi-denominational group of churches to provide social services to the Hispanic population. Since then, Casa Central has evolved from an organization with three employees and a $26,000 budget to an acclaimed model agency with over 500 staff members and an $11 million budget.
Casa Central is now the largest Hispanic social service agency in Chicago and arguably in country, providing programs for all ages. For more information >
